Dolphins or bananas?

Cute display at Hilton for their anniversary party. I am waiting for them to call and notify me that I won the trip to Hawaii in the drawing.

Finding Our Way

" ..........a parable of Two Horses

Just up the road from my home is a field, with two horses in it.

From a distance, each horse looks like any other horse.

But if you stop your car, or are walking by, you will notice something quite amazing....

Looking into the eyes of one horse will disclose that he is blind.

His owner has chosen not to have him put down, but has made a good home for him. This alone is amazing.

If you stand nearby and listen, you will hear the sound of a bell. Looking around for the source of the sound, you will see that it comes from the smaller horse in the field.

Attached to the horse's halter is a small bell. It lets the blind friend know where the other horse is, so he can follow.

As you stand and watch these two friends, you'll see that the horse with the bell is always checking on the blind horse, and that the blind horse will listen for the bell and then slowly walk to where the other horse is, trusting that he will not be led astray.

When the horse with the bell returns to the shelter of the barn each evening, it stops occasionally and looks back,
Making sure that the blind friend isn't too far behind to hear the bell.

Like the owners of these two horses, our mates don't throw us away just because we are not perfect or because we have problems or challenges. They watch over us and even bring others into our lives
To help us when we are in need..

Sometimes we are the blind horse being guided by the little ringing bell of those who are placed in our lives.
Other times we are the guide horse, helping others to find their way....

Good friends are like that...You may not always see them, but you know they are always there.. Please listen for my bell and I'll listen for yours, and remember...

Everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Live simply, Love generously, Care deeply,

..........................FOR WE WALK BY FAITH AND NOT BY SIGHT "

What were you doing 25 years ago

What were you doing when you saw Challenger Space shuttle explode 25 years ago today? I was sitting in Social Studies class. We had a tv in the classroom watching the launch of the space shuttle.

NASA's space shuttle program began in the 1970's. The first shuttle, Columbia was launched in 1981. One year later, the Challenger rolled off the assembly line as the second shuttle of the US fleet. Challenger flew 9 successful missions before the fateful day.

"The Crew on the Challenger:
Selected from among more than 11,000 applicants from the education profession for entrance into the astronaut ranks, McAuliffe was very excited about the opportunity to participate in the space program. "I watched the Space Age being born and I would like to participate."
Besides McAuliffe, the Challenger crew consisted of mission commander Francis R. Scobee; pilot Michael J. Smith; mission specialists Ronald E. McNair, Ellison S. Onizuka, and Judith A. Resnik; and payload specialists Gregory B. Jarvis.

From the beginning, though, Shuttle Mission STS-51L was plagued by problems. Liftoff was initally scheduled from at 3:43 p.m. EST on January 22, 1986. It slipped to Jan. 23, then Jan. 24, due to delays in mission 61-C and finally reset for Jan. 25 because of bad weather at transoceanic abort landing (TAL) site in Dakar, Senegal. The launch was again postponed for one day when launch processing was unable to meet new morning liftoff time. Predicted bad weather at Kennedy Space Center (KSC) caused the launch to be rescheduled for 9:37 a.m. EST, Jan. 27, but it was delayed another 24 hours when ground servicing equipment hatch closing fixture could not be removed from orbiter hatch.
The fixture was sawed off and an attaching bolt drilled out before closeout completed. During this delay, the cross winds exceeded limits at KSC's Shuttle Landing Facility. There as a final delay of two hours when a hardware interface module in the launch processing system, which monitors fire detection system, failed during liquid hydrogen tanking procedures. The Challenger finally lifted off at 11:38:00 a.m. EST.
Seventy three seconds into the mission, the Challenger exploded, killing the entire crew."

Poor Marvin

He was attacked by a pit bull. He is recovering and I have told his owner she needs to send him to Arizona. His cousin Spot misses him!

Microwave pork rinds!

Yes, it is a real item. No, I have not tried these. I saw this on Munchies Unwrapped Food Network today. I have had the hot chicharones(non microwaved) before, these are ok. Now that I have seen how they are made and with what I don't think I will be eating anymore. They are made with pork pellets.

Remember these?

I went to the candy store in Chandler today. There is a lot of candy I remember from when I was young. One thing I did not find was the Jolly Rancher flat sticks of candy, these were about 4-5 inches long and came in any flavor you could think of. I like carmel and the lemon was good with a sour snow cone. All fo the kids from the neighborhood would walk down to the store and get so much candy for 50 cents. We used to get a pack of cinnamon toothpicks for 10 cents, I found some but they are now 99 cents for 20.
Who had cow tails? I never saw these before.

On Tour

Matthew West is starting his tour soon. I wanted to see if he was coming to Phoenix so I checked his website. Unfortunately Phoenix is not on the list:( the closest place is Rancho Cucamonga, CA or Las Vegas, NV. Roswell, NM is a stop on the tour...really!

On his website are all the letters that inspired him to write the songs on his new cd The Story of your Life. Check it out http://www.matthewwest.com/

I like this place

Went to Maizie's last night for a farewell HH for Steve. They have outside dining which was nice since the weather is great. Inside is pretty small but cool decorations and I like the sink in the bathroom, glass with small tiles around the edge. Address is 4750 North Central Avenue.

Incredible Wonder Fork

While searching for Incredible cases I came across the Incredible Wonder Fork. This fork is used for picking up horse and large dog poo and comes in a three pack for around $95. No thanks, I will continue to use my plastic bags from misc grocery stores.

I like this site for cell phone cases, it has the best variety of choices.

Finally

The iPhone 4 is finally going to be on the Verizon network. Almost everyone I know already has a smart phone and if they wanted the iPhone of course they had to choose AT&T as the provider. My brother in law and niece are excited because on 2-10-11 they will have a new phone with Verizon! I am happy with my Droid.

Not Chuck's jacket

Poor Chuck, such a gentleman. He let me hang my coat outside his cube. The other day someone asked if that was his jacket. Lenore tried to convince them it was and for a minute they believed her.

My Florist closed

I am 3 months late discovering the restaurant closed. I was looking for the name of a clothing store featured on 3TV this morning and came across this story. My Florist had delicious sandwiches and soup, even though it is close to the office I rarely went there for lunch. In 5 years I might have gone 3 times, if you wanted to wait to be seated and were in no hurry this was a great place. Unfortunately there were several "fast" options nearby.

The Saints go marching home

Who would have thought the Seattle Seahawks with their 7-9 record would beat the New Orlean Saints? Crazy!

Door to door marketing

I think this is the first time I have seen a hang tag for Wendy's. One day this week I came home and found this on my door. On the back are eight different coupons for breakfast items, most are buy one and get one free. This is a nice incentive to try something.

Great game

The Phoenix Suns played the LA Lakers last night. It was a great game and the Suns only lost by 4 points, 99 to 95. It would have been awesome if they won but as long as they did not get pummeled I was happy. Below is a look of disgust by a Lakers fan that the Suns were ahead for a good part of the first half.

Perfect

New song by Pink I heard on the radio tonight. I like it, here are the lyrics.

Made a wrong turn once or twice

Dug my way out, blood and fire

Bad decisions, that's alright

Welcome to my silly life

Mistreated, misplaced, misunderstood

Miss knowing it's all good It didn't slow me down.

Mistaken, always second guessing

Underestimated, look I'm still around

Pretty, pretty please, don't you ever, ever feel

Like your less then perfect

Pretty, pretty please, if you ever, ever feel

Like you're nothing, you're perfect to me

Your's so mean when you talk About yourself.

You were wrong. Change the voices in your head

Make them like you instead.

So complicated, look how we are making

Filled with so much hatred

Such a tired game

It's enough, I've done all I could think of

Chased down all my demons I've seen you do the same

(ohh ohhhhhhh)Pretty, pretty please, don't you ever, ever feel

Like your less perfect

Pretty, pretty please, if you ever, ever feel

Like you're nothing, you're perfect to me

The whole world's scared, so I swallow the fear

The only think I should be drinking is an ice cold beer

So cool in line and we try try try but we try too hard

It's a waste of my time.

Done looking for the critics, cos there everywhere

They don't like my jeans, they don't get my hair

Strange ourselves and we do it all the time

Why do we do that, why do I do that (why do I do that)?

Pretty, pretty please, don't you ever, ever feel Like your less then perfect

Pretty, pretty please, if you ever, ever feel

Like you're nothing, then you're perfect to me(you're perfect, you're perfect)

Pretty, pretty please, if you ever, ever feel

Like you're nothing, you're perfect to me
