No, this is not about the movie, I do not like scary movies. I bought 90 Minutes in Heaven last Sunday and finished the book the last night. This is a true story. At first first I thought how can someone be gone for an hour and a half and then come back to life so I read the book to find out his story. I enjoyed reading about Don Piper's life and how he tries to comfort others.

First happy 90th birthday to Betty White! NBC had a nice tribute to her last night. It was followed by her new show. It was hilarious!! Funniest two parts were both set at huntington beach, first one two older men sat on either side of younger girl at beach and when wave came in they would stand up and say here it comes..weeee. second was man pretending he was blind standing behind two girls sitting on steps he would throw seeds on top of girls and say here birds:)

Meryl Streep was amazing playing Margaret Thatcher. I recommend this movie for all to see. Did you know Margaret and Dennis Thatcher called each other by their initials? MT and DT. (At least in the movie they did.)

Enjoyed a yummy lunch at Spinato's on Chandler and 48th St, first time here and really liked it. I had a greek salad and spinach pizza and have to say I like the salad and pizza as much as Dion's, my favorite place for pizza in New Mexico.

The local NBC station is channel 12, they have a program to email women on the 12th of each month to do self check for cancer screening. I saw this on the back of someones car today and it reminded me of buddy check 12.

There are some different/interesting/odd shows on television this season. While flipping thru the channels I stopped on Mobbed, a new program on Fox that Howie Mandel is hosting. This particular episode a guy wants to meet this girl he has been talking to for the last 5 years. He is moving to LA to tell her he wants to be with her, if she rejects him he is moving to New York for his band. A flash mob is staged for the introduction. I have to say the show got me to watch for the first 26 minutes. I want to flip the channel to see Are you there, Chelsea? with Chelsea Handler but want to see what happens, Tivo would be nice to have now.

Wind Cave Trail

Today I went to Usery Mountain Regional Park and hiked the Wind Cave Trail. It is 1.6 miles each way and took about 2 hours. What a gorgeous day to be outside and enjoy the scenery. See the little chipmunk wanting a snack? I have not been hiking for a few years I wonder if my legs will be hurting tomorrow. I feel great now!

A radio station I listen to is challenging everyone to listen to nothing but Christian music for 30 days and see how it can change you. I usually listen to this station all the time and once in a while flip to others stations. I was thinking about other things to do with this 30 day challenge. A good challenge for me would to be stop buying unnecessary stuff. This is hard because I love to go shopping and find a great deal, also if I find something I think someone else would like I usually buy it. I am going to do this for at least 30 days and hopefully save some $$ too.

I have been visiting these shoes at Nordstroms for the last couple of weeks. Today Bekki and I went to Cheesecake Factory for lunch then walked around the mall. I showed her the shiny shoes I liked which also come in gold, green, pink, orange and yellow but did not buy them. Decided I was going to find them at last chance so headed over there. I picked a good time to go since they were restocking and after waiting to get to my section/size found my shoes:) Love the universe!

This movie is awesome with George Clooney! I was trying to decide to see this or Young Adult (I might go see this tomorrow). Definitely worth going to see in the theater, it is 2 hours long but does not seem like it. I tried to get a pic of this lady sitting one chair over from me but couldn't, it was hilarious, she had her napkin tucked into her shirt while she gobbled her large bag of popcorn and then something in a smaller bag that sounded like corn nuts.

I was challenged to take a family photo. This was difficult since someone had to take the pictures:) Here is a pic of my sister and her family and then one of me, my mom and my niece and nephew and several others. Damacio got an Ipad and he was super excited since Kim was not supposed to buy him anything. The kids were spoiled rotten as usual and Blas wanted his dads ipad(he is not allowed to touch it). My best friend from college and her daughter came over to visit the day after Christmas, it was great to see them since her daughter usually spends Christmas in Oklahoma with her other grandma I have not seen her in years.

Trip to Santa Fe

We went to eat at Tomositas yesterday in Santa Fe. I had not been there before, the food was delicious! Had red tamale, green blue corn enchilada with rice and beans. It was about a 35 minute wait to be seated and we were #22. I don't think the restaurant wants you to take drinks outside. One the way back stopped at the outlets and found a couple of deals:)

Jacob loves to watch the Snoopy dvd I got him for his birthday so as part of his Christmas present I gave him a Snoopy cup, plate and bowl which he had to use for his dinner that night. Jordan also got a Snoopy color/sticker book, he is so sweet and gave everyone stickers:)

My first Christmas cards

I need to send out some cards. Here are the first ones I received: Snoopy from my mom, puppy and kitten from the AZ humane society, snow scene from Tony(old district manager from Wild Pair) and Virginia, puppy and kitten from the AZ humane society, a picture of the surgeon and her assistants at the dermotologist office and a picture of Noey from Rachel and Julian. Who else gets a card from their dermotologist?

The toy soldiers at FAO Schwartz are so nice, I wanted a picture with them but did not get one. This store is huge, three stories. I got a dalmation sugar cookie and red velvet cupcake from the bakery inside. The Big Piano was great and the so were the Lego sculptures. Drove past Central Park on the way there, did not get out to look around, it was raining really hard Wednesday afternoon. We left the toy store and I tried to hail a cab to no success, every car showed off duty or had a passenger. I had been successful the first tow times getting a cab but not now. Decided to walk back to the hotel since we had our umbrellas and the app on Nicole's phone said the walking directions would take us 20 minutes. An hour later we end up back at the hotel, my feet are soaked since I could not help to step in a huge puddle, people everyone walking in the rain and they don't care if they poke your eye out with their umbrella.

Thursday Nicole and I bought tickets at the hotel to go to the 86th fl of the Empire State Building. The lady failed to tell us there is a 2.5 hour wait to get up there. It was 11am and Carlos was coming to pick us up at 2:30pm to go to the airport for our 5:40pm flight. The tickets do not have an expiration date on them so hopefully I can use this next time I go. I decided to walk down to 5th Avenue and see some more stores. I went in Macy's and oh my it is the largest store ever!

Inside the store is a color analyzer to see what color M & M you are. I am cream, I have never seen a cream one:( Amariah was dark green and Donna was red, Nicole did not want to play.

9/11 Memorial

I had been looking foward to going to the memorial, this was probably my favorite part of the trip. It is amazing to see all the progress that has been made since that horrible day 10 years ago. We went here Wednesday, 12/7, the rain was coming down steady all day. If you plan on going you need to reserve your ticket online, you cannot just walk up and get in. I was disappointed to learn the musuem does not open until September 2012, definitely have to go back. I had watched a special on the history channel about the artifacts being collected for the museum and wanted to see everything especially the Fire Engine from Station 3. When I saw a fire truck or ambulance going thru the city this week I could only imagine the fear people had on that tragic day. It makes you thankful for your friends and family. The second picture is of two forks that were found in the destruction from the North Tower, the front of the museum was designed so they could be seen from all angles. From the outside if you look up at this building it is designed to look like you were looking up at the World Trade Center.

30 Seconds to Mars

Tuesday and Wednesday night we went to see 30 Seconds to Mars and no I am not a crazy fan to go both nights. Up until about a month ago I had no idea who they were, the girls I went with are crazy fans:) In my opinion Tuesday nights opening act was better and both shows were good. Both nights they played at Hammerstein Theater which was right around the corner from the New Yorker(where we stayed) the girls wanted to get in line at 5:30pm for the 6:30pm show. It is still raining and we went to wait in line(or on line as New Yorkers call it). Around 7:15-7:30 we get in the building, one of the security guards was horrible. They were letting about 10 people move up at at time and everyone else was behind gates. Wednesday was the bands 309th show on this tour which got them in the Guiness Book of World Records. We were on the floor both nights.

New York

I had an amazing time! Arrived in New York(JFK) Tuesday morning around 4am Mountain, 6am Eastern. Carlos was our cab driver from the airport to the hotel, he took us for a short sightseeing tour on the way to the hotel. It sprinkled all day, happy I packed my purple umbrella. We were able to check in to the hotel which was great so I could change clothes and freshen up before we headed out on the town exploring. Walked to Time Square, took a lot of pictures everywhere then went to Rockafeller Center to see the tree and watched a few ice skaters. It was around 8am so almost all the stores are closed, looked in the window at Metropolitian Museum of Art and the Lego store next door. Walked over to where the Today show is being filmed and tried to get a picture of Matt Lauer but too many people were in the way, got a pic of the lady(don't know her name) and the side of Willard Scott, the weather man. Stores started opening at 9am so spent a lot of time looking at different places and bought some souveniers. Last picture is one window in front of Macy's.

"Legend has it that in 1670, the choirmaster at the Cologne Cathedral in Germany handed out sugar sticks among his young singers to keep them quiet during the long Living Creche ceremony. In honor of the occasion, he had the candies bent into shepherds' crooks. The treat proved popular with the children and other choirmasters and church officials began having them on hand to keep restless children occupied during church services.

The first historical reference to the candy cane being in America goes back to 1847, when a German immigrant named August Imgard decorated the Christmas tree in his Wooster, Ohio home with candy canes.

About fifty years later the first red-and-white striped candy canes appeared. No one knows who exactly invented the stripes, but Christmas cards prior to the year 1900 showed only all-white candy canes. Christmas card s after 1900 showed illustrations of striped candy canes. Around the same time, candy-makers started to add peppermint and wintergreen flavors to their candy canes and those flavors then became the traditional favorites.

Bob McCormack of Bob s Candy began making candy canes in the 1920's as special Christmas treats for his family, friends and local shopkeepers in Albany, Georgia. It was a labor intensive process as the shaping and bending of the candy canes had to done by hand so production was limited.In the 1950's Bob's brother-in-law, Gregory Keller, a Catholic priest, invented a machine that automated the process and could make hundreds of candy canes at a time. The next generation of McCormacks developed packaging innovations that made it possible to ship the delicate candy and the popularity of the holiday treat grew worldwide."

The Tempe festival is held twice a year. It was nice today and when we were almost finished looking at all the pretties it started to sprinkle. I bought from one vendor, Sassy Salsa, delicious(and very hot) Habenero, a mango salsa and a margarita pinapple salsa which came with a bag of chips. Guess what I am eating for dinner:)

Here are some things I saw today: A hat for dogs (not for mine), giraffe chalkboard, Hollie's name spelled wrong, and the cancer plaque.

Happy I did not go to the theater to sit for 2 hours and 12 minutes. Started out very slow, then I was somewhat interested and thought I knew what was occurring. Last five minutes what I thought was happening the entire movie probably was way off. If this is confusing that is exactly how I felt when the movie ended. Have you seen the movie? And explain it?

"Creator Charles "Sparky" Schulz, director-animator Bill Melendez and producer Lee Mendelson decided to choose another holiday for their third special. And the result, "Great Pumpkin," pleased Schulz greatly."

"1. The director took Snoopy's virgin flight as a personal challenge -- turning the beagle into a silent star.

2. Schulz filled Charlie Brown's Halloween bag with rocks to "spite" his colleagues

3. For years, sympathetic viewers kept sending candy to Schulz's studio.

4. "Charlie Brown" says he knows which child actor deserves the most praise: Christopher Shea -- the voice of Linus Van Pelt.

5. "Sally Brown" nearly had to be replaced at the last minute.

6. Some of the kid actors' lines had to be recorded one syllable at a time, then spliced together.

Starting in November Coke will turn its Coke cans white to draw attention to polar bears.

"The company — which has used polar bears in its holiday ads for decades — is donating $2 million to WWF, and will match consumer donations through March 15 up to $1 million. Individuals will be able to text donations at a dollar apiece to 357357, or donate online at Arctichome.com. "Coke has made a kind of foundational commitment that has never before been seen in our history," says Roberts. "They're taking their biggest promotional season and dedicating it to this cause."

Details of the new program to help homeowners refinance should be available by November 15 and by December 1 banks should be able to start issuing the loans. So far the only requirement is to be current on your mortgage payments for the last six months and have not missed a payment in the last 12 months, other details to be provided soon. I hope more people will be able to take advantage of this new program Obama just announced.

The guys decided they wanted to go as members of the band LMFAO. They provided great entertaiment trying on girls skinny jeans at Pac Sun and Forever 21 not only to us but the staff at both stores. So far one Adrian has black skinnys and Kyle bought the orange/red leopard print skinny jeans. They are going to get wigs, glasses and a few other accessories in the next couple of weeks to complete the outfits.

What an amazing day! Great company and a great cause. My sister and niece came to town for the weekend to walk the 5K with me. I did a quick search but was not able to find how many people turned out for the walk this year.

We wanted to go to Grimaldi's for the yummy white garlic pizza. We arrived at 4:30pm and were told they were heating up the brick oven and pizza would not be ready for about 45 minutes. I had the most disqusting lunch today at Good Egg. I found a hair in my Huevos Rancheros and the waitress was not nice at all!! She took my plate and said I will be right back, I told her I do not want any more food, she took the bill and came back with a correction a few minutes later. I have been excited to see some of the new shows and my old shows too. Greys Anatomy was good last week, looking foward to Private Practice this thursday. Tried to watch Biggest Loser last week and was not a fan, have on in the background tonight but still not into it. Bob is funny, too bad Jillian is no longer a coach! I am so happy I got to take CEM to Build a Bear! She picked out a cute bear that smells like chocolate and I picked Snoopy of course. Fitzgerald is wearing his Cardinals jersey and Snoopy is dressed as the WWII flying ace. Fitzgerald has a cool heartbeat when you squeeze him and Snoopy plays the Peanuts theme song and his ears flap. Thanks for going with me!
